“All my life I had to fight.” When Brittany once heard Oprah utter those words in “The Color Purple,” she somehow understood despite having vastly different life experiences to the character in the movie. Growing up, Brittany experienced her share of trauma, a family history of major depressive disorder, a primary immunodeficiency disease, and developed pretty severe binge eating disorder; all of which created an internal struggle since childhood. Little did she know she was also neurodivergent and was unidentified Autistic and ADH. She simply longed to be “normal” and for everything not to seem so difficult. Brittany decided to try therapy once her problems seemed too overwhelming for her to handle by herself. She unfortunately met a few therapists who were not a good fit, who didn’t “get her” or didn’t seem to even understand what she was feeling. She finally connected with a wise and compassionate therapist with whom she was able to process her trauma. She helped Brittany start her journey to self love and truly heal.

After going through her own recovery, Brittany became even more determined to help others as she experienced first hand how life changing and incredibly hard “doing the work” actually is. Gloria Steinem said, “The final stage of healing is using what happens to you to help other people.” Brittany knew she needed to dedicate her life to helping others heal from similar challenges.

Brittany recognizes that she holds white, middle class, and cisgendered privilege. She also currently holds size privilege, although she did live for many years in a much larger body. These important aspects of her identity has shaped her life experiences and impacts the ways in which she practices therapy, as well as the social justice lens she has from her undergraduate specialized coursework on the intersectionality between gender, race, and class. Due to her own experiences with things like sexism, ableism, and sizeism, Brittany doesn’t shy away from these topics as they come up in therapy—she knows they impact mental wellness and ignoring them can further harm marginalized people. She hopes to warmly embrace and affirm your diverse identity, including sexual orientation, gender identity, neurotype, ethnicity, race, ability, and class.

Brittany’s therapeutic approach is rooted in a feminist and relational style that aims to individualize your treatment to your specific needs. She always seeks to provide a safe, supportive, and neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ affirming space for each client. She uses an eclectic mix of trauma-informed modalities including somatic therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), attachment-informed therapy, intuitive eating counseling, and mindfulness-based stress reduction. She also practices harm reduction for eating disorders, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and psychedelic integration to help her clients make significant breakthroughs and symptom improvement. What she loves about these techniques is they honor your autonomy, wisdom and self trust.

Recognizing the importance of self-care in her profession, she cherishes moments spent horseback riding, exploring new restaurants, binge watching a good show or true crime documentary, and spending time with her family or friends. Her dearest companion, Bentley the Biewer Terrier, symbolizes the profound healing potential of animals in offering unconditional love and support.

Brittany has a deep concern for each of her clients and dedicates herself to supporting them in their journey to healing and reclaiming agency over their lives. Few things bring her more happiness than witnessing a client achieve healing and regain personal freedom. This work holds immense significance for her, and she feels privileged to accompany you on your path to healing.
